Sunrise or sunset session? Which is best for you?
Sunsets are popular for their golden hour glow and soft light, but have you ever considered booking your shoot in the morning?
Sunrise sessions are perfect for:
Families who are early risers - Already up before the sun with your little ones? Might as well!
Morning People - Those who love the feeling of starting their day with something positive:)
There’s no one around! Other than the odd dog walker, it’s likely we’ll have the location all to ourselves
Sunset sessions are perfect for:
Those who work during the day or have places to be like football or rugby tournaments with the children. Evenings are wide open!
People who love to finish the day with a bang! Sunsets can be quite sentimental and enjoying one at the end of a long day can feel so, so good.
Families with little ones who book Autumn, Winter or Spring sessions when the sunset happens earlier in the day. No need to push back bedtime!
Some Helpful Tips:
If you’re nervous about the children staying up late for your summer sunset session, adding an extra nap or letting them sleep on the way for one day of the year is totally worth it. Plus the shoot will be an exciting adventure for them so it’s likely they’ll be having too much fun to be grumpy;)
Decide on a location with your photographer which backdrop would be ideal for the best light. Beaches or open fields/hills that have the sun rising or setting in a favourable spot will be the best options.
The later or earlier the session the better. Shooting anytime before 10 or after 4pm in late Spring or Summer is going to improve the light quality a million times more than shooting at high sun. Say bye bye to squinty eyes and shadows!
